The Sanovaskale Story
Sanovaskale was established to address a critical gap in India’s manufacturing ecosystem: the difficult transition from lab-scale innovation to efficient, commercially viable production. Across food ingredients, natural products, and selective pharmaceutical purification, promising molecules and formulations often fail to reach the market—not due to scientific limitations, but because of challenges in process scale-up, purification, and cost optimization.
Recognizing this, we built a multidisciplinary team with deep expertise in process chemistry, separation science, translational research, and engineering. Today, we partner with leading companies in food, nutraceuticals, and pharma to bridge the gap between innovation and commercialization.
Our work spans from licensable technologies and lab-scale process development to pilot-scale validation and fully integrated, turnkey manufacturing solutions. With in-house R&D, a fully equipped pilot facility, and strong process equipment and engineering capabilities, we enable seamless scale-up of complex processes—ensuring consistent quality, economic viability, and faster time-to-market.

Dr. Smita Kale, Director & Founder

Dr. Smita Sandeep Kale is a scientist-entrepreneur building the bridge between cutting-edge laboratory research and scalable industrial solutions. She is an innovation leader and startup ecosystem enabler with over 20 years of experience across academia, research, and entrepreneurship.
She founded Sanovaskale Technologies to solve one of biotech’s most persistent challenges: translating breakthrough discoveries into market-ready products. At Sanovaskale, she leads R&D innovation, business development, and strategic growth, delivering end-to-end solutions in process development, scale-up, and purification technologies for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and biotech industries.
Under her leadership, Sanovaskale has established itself as a trusted deep-tech partner for organisations that need rigorous science delivered at an industrial scale.
Dr. Kale has made significant contributions to India’s startup ecosystem through her work at Venture Center, where she has mentored close to 100 deep-tech startups across biopharma, healthcare, agriculture, and clean energy sectors. She has guided startups in technology validation, refining business strategies, and securing competitive funding, including grants from national agencies such as BIRAC.
As Project Investigator, she led the establishment of the Center for Biopharma Analysis (CBA) under the National Biopharma Mission, creating a GLP-compliant analytical facility for biopharmaceuticals characterization. She also led BIRAC’s Regional Bioinnovation Center (BRBC), designing and delivering programs to promote scientific entrepreneurship and innovation-led growth.
Dr. Kale has received recognition for both her scientific and entrepreneurial achievements. This includes the Best Innovative Ph.D. Thesis Award (ICT Mumbai, 2018), Young Scientist recognition, awards for entrepreneurship and project management excellence, and a runner-Up finish at the TiE Global Women Pitch Competition (Pune Chapter).
Beyond Sanovskale and her advisory roles, Dr. Kale is deeply committed to knowledge dissemination through invited talks, workshops, and training programs, inspiring aspiring scientists and entrepreneurs. A passionate dancer, she reflects a balanced and creative approach to life and leadership.
